HAE Live

Patient & HCP Dashboard

Shire wanted to create a digital tool for patients with hereditary angioedema (HAE), a rare, inherited blood disorder that causes acute attacks of swelling of the skin, intestine and respiratory tract which require immediate medical treatment. The digital tool would allow patients to record information about when the attacks occurred, the severity of the attacks and the medications used to treat them. The idea being, patients would generate diaries allowing healthcare professionals to aggregate data on disease burden and symptom severity of HAE.

After creating a responsive portal, we gathered feedback from user testing and interviews with healthcare professionals at pilot hospitals. From this research, the site has been improved and the new programme now includes an app that can be used offline to make it easier for patients to record symptoms and disease attacks.
